Longtime Copper employees Chris Colman, Bruce Hodson take promotions ...
Copper Mountain recently announced that Chris Colman has accepted the new position of director of operations and Bruce Hodson has accepted the new position of director of slopes and maintenance.
Colman will oversee all of the guest-related operations at the resort, including ski patrol, lift operations, transportation, parking and base operations. Colman has been with Copper Mountain since the resort opened in 1972. Most recently, Colman has been serving as the director of village operations.
Hodson will oversee all of the maintenance functions on the mountain and base area, including slopes and snowmaking, park and pipe, lift and electrical maintenance, vehicle maintenance and the warehouse. He brings 28 years of experience at Copper Mountain, primarily in slope maintenance and base operations.
Buy Side Enterprise Architectures Remain On the Drawing Board
But no firm achieved a "best in class" designation in the technology category. To be best in class, the benchmark report stated, these firms would need to shift from an application-centric model to a message-centric and service-oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm. Shankar Subramanian, managing director at Cutter, observes that while many sell-side firms already have made their IT architectures messaging-oriented, buy-side asset management firms tend to be application-centric or data-centric. "In a retail brokerage firm, you really have to have message-centric architectures, whereas among buy-side asset management firms, it's less prevalent," he relates. What's the benefit of a message-centric architecture? "The integration is easier," Subramanian says.

Morgan takes lead at Turtle Bay
KAHUKU, Hawaii (AP) _ Gil Morgan is on top of the leaderboard at the Turtle Bay Championship after shooting two eagles in a four-hole stretch Friday on his way to a 7-under 65.
Morris Hatalsky is two strokes behind Morgan after capping the first round of the Champions Tour's first full-field event of the year with consecutive birdies.
Four rookies are among the group at 68, including John Cook, seeking his second victory in his fourth start on the 50-and-over circuit. He is joined by fellow rookies Fulton Allem, Bernhard Langer and Phil Blackmar.
Tom Kite, Jim Thorpe and Donnie Hammond also are at 68.
The 61-year-old Morgan, who struggled at last week's MasterCard Championship, quickly moved up the leaderboard during the middle holes Friday.
